Syracuse University's Information Technology and Services (ITS) provides students,
faculty, and staff with technology resources that support the University's mission of
promoting learning through teaching, research, scholarship, creative accomplishment and
service. ITS works in partnership with the technology departments located within SU's
schools, colleges and administrative divisions.
Office of the CIO
This office supports the Vice President for Information Technology /Chief Information Officer (CIO), who provides day-to-day leadership and administration of the Information Technology and Services (ITS) department, while developing and implementing strategies to ensure that ITS is providing central technology support across both the academic and administrative functions of the University. As CIO, he provides leadership and acts as a catalyst for unifying the various information technology visions across campus into one. The CIO is the main consensus builder in coordinating technology activities across all administrative and academic units at Syracuse University.
Academic Applications and Support Centers
Academic Applications and Services Centers (AASC) provides the University with online learning technologies (Blackboard), web hosting and web content management (Cascade), IT training development and facilitation, and information, assistance and triage services support for these, as well as for University computing services including accounts, email, web, security, network, software, and hardware. AASC manages two walk-in ITS Service Centers, which provide telephone, online, and email user support for the University community. They also manage the Network Master Plan project to upgrade the campus network infrastructure.
