Guest speakers and visiting professors who do not have a Syracuse University NetID, but who need to use a
laptop computer on campus for presentations or other academic-related activities may gain
"on-the-spot" access to the SU computing network by being sponsored by an SU faculty or staff
member.
NOTE: Please allow at least eight minutes for the "on-the-spot" registration to
activate. In addition, faculty and staff members who sponsor a guest computer for an "on-the-spot"
registration are asked to also submit the GuestNET registration form so that the registration can
be expired when it is no longer needed.
To register a computer "on-the-spot", follow the steps below:
- Connect the guest's computer to a campus Ethernet port.
- The Web browser should automatically point to http://hostreg.syr.edu
- The Syracuse University faculty/staff sponsor must enter his/her NetID and password.
- Click submit
- Follow any additional instructions required to complete the registration process.
Registration and activation may take up to eight minutes. If your Web browser continues to go to
the registration page after that time period is up, it may be helpful to reboot your computer.
