Clients who use gmail can move mail from their gmail account into MyMail using the "fetch" mail process, which involves changing settings in both your gmail account and your MyMail account. The steps are listed below:

Gmail settings:

  • Log into gmail.
  • Click "settings" in the upper right corner of the screen.
  • Click the "forwarding and POP" heading.
  • Under "POP download," select "Enable POP for all mail."
  • Click "save changes."

MyMail settings:

1) enable "perform maintenance operations on login"  by taking the following steps:

  • Expand the "options" category in the left panel
  • Click on "preferences."
  • Under "other information," click "login tasks."
  • Verify that the "perform maintenance operations on login" box is checked.
  • Click "save options."

2) Under "options" in the left panel, click "mail"-- the "Options for Mail" screen will appear.

3) Under "message options," click "fetch mail."

4) On the "fetch mail" screen, click "edit your preferences for accessing other mail accounts."

5) Under "other mail accounts > your accounts," click the "create" button.

6) Click the down arrow to select the mail server type. Choose "IMAP/POP3 mail servers."

7) Fill in the following information:

  • Account name: your entire gmail address (ex: disney.tigger@gmail.com).
  • Protocol: POP3 (Auto Detect Protocols).
  • Username: your entire gmail address (as above).
  • Password: your gmail password.
  • Server: pop.gmail.com
  • Remote mailbox: Inbox.
  • Local mailbox: Inbox.

8) Click "create"

9) Click "save."

10) Click "options" category in the left panel, then "fetch mail," and select "show fetch mail icon on the menubar."

11) Click "save options," and a "fetch mail" button will appear on your toolbar. Each time you want to move mail from your gmail account into MyMail, click your "fetch mail" button.

12) When the "fetch" is complete, a confirmation message will appear in the MyMail Inbox.
