Glenda Ranallo

Glenda has more than 30 years experience as an information technology professional with more than 20 years experience in Higher Education at Syracuse University and the University of South Carolina.  Glenda has a strong background in leadership, project management, team building, application analysis and design, and process improvement.  She is known for taking on challenging projects, getting them started and organized and bringing them to a successful conclusion.  Glenda is also known for finding creative solutions to difficult problems and for getting things done.

Glenda began her information technology career at SU in the 1970’s.  During that time of learning and growth, she was a major contributor to the development and management of Student Records, Physical Plant, Payroll, Accounting, Alumni Development, Bursar and Budget applications.

Glenda then moved to Aiken, South Carolina where she worked as a senior programmer/analyst for the University of South Carolina.  Her major contribution during her one-year employment was the development of a Financials system.
Glenda returned home to Syracuse and Syracuse University where she was the Manager of New Systems Development.  While managing a team of eight IT professionals and in coordination with the Registrar’s Office, she led the creation of SU’s first on-line real-time registration and course management systems. The project resulted in a significant reduction in the time and effort associated with registration and course management.

Glenda next became an IT Consultant for a newly formed Syracuse consulting firm.  She gained experience and knowledge as project manager on several projects for Central New York clients. She brought her IT and project management expertise to industries including grocery, manufacturing, distribution and law enforcement. She also started a small business, All Occasions Printing, where she provided clients with professionally printed cards, wedding invitations, birth announcements, and party invitations.

Glenda returned to SU as a consultant working in ITS in the newly formed Data Warehouse group leading the effort to create the first SU-wide client-server Single Sign-on application. Upon completion of Single Sign-on, Glenda worked to coordinate and organize the effort to maintain the Peoplesoft environment.  She worked with SU’s technical and functional staff along with Peoplesoft representatives to create a documented method for keeping Peoplesoft software current and for testing Peoplesoft application patches.  She coordinated the technical implementation of two PeopleSoft HRSA upgrades and one Financials upgrade.  As manager of the PeopleSoft HRSA developers group in ITS, Glenda had the opportunity to be a liaison between ITS and administrative offices to coordinate many process improvements.  She, along with ITS developers and Bursar Office analysts were honored with receiving the SU 2003 Chancellor’s Exemplary Achievement Award for process improvement for developing an improved student monthly payment process.

Glenda also served on the PeopleSoft Higher Education User Group Technical Advisory Group (HEUG TAG).  This group consisted of representatives from Universities throughout the U.S. and Canada and worked with PeopleSoft to help shape the future technology improvements to the product.  She and her SU colleagues gave presentations at HEUG conferences about the PeopleSoft Change Management and Database Infrastructure Management processes developed at SU.

Glenda worked as manager for the ITS PeopleSoft security team and the Identity Management group.  These experiences prepared her for her next major role as Active Directory Desktop Deployment project lead.  She brought together SU-wide IT support staff and together they laid out a schedule for delivering Active Directory and Outlook to their respective units.  She had the opportunity to work with not only tremendously talented technology people but also engaging staff in the Chancellor, Vice Chancellor, Academic Affairs and Graduate School offices.

Currently, Glenda is the project lead implementing ITS’s Project and Portfolio management application called TeamDynamix.  Glenda joined EPS shortly after this project was started and is pleased to continue this effort along with her EPS colleagues.
