Important: Computers running Windows XP must have Internet Explorer 7 installed in order to set
up WebDAV access and manage MySite content. IE7 can be downloaded at
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/downloads/ie/getitnow.mspx.
Note: Faculty and Staff using Windows XP should contact their department IT support staff before downloading IE7.
- From My Network Places (access from your Desktop or Start Menu).
- Where do you want to create this network place?
- Select Choose another network location
- Click Next
- What is the address of this network place?
- Type your MySite WebDAV address, i.e.
https://yournetid.mysite.syr.edu/admin in the Internet or Network Address field
- Click Next
- Enter Network Password
- Enter your NetID account and password
- For security purposes, it is not recommended to save this password in your password list
- Click OK
Important: If this is being performed from a University computer, you may need to enter AD\yournetid in the User Name field.
- What do you want to name this place?
- Enter the name you wish to call this network place in the Type a name for this network place field
- This name will now appear in your My Network Places list
Additional notes
When accessing your WebDAV content on a Windows XP computer, you will need to open you're my
Network Places and copy the files to a local folder on your computer in order to modify them.
After modifying the content, you must copy the files back to your WebDAV folders in order for
changes to appear on your MySite web.
