Terms of Use
All content posted here is publicly accessible by any computer with a web browser, so do not post the following types of content:
- Anything personal information that you would like to remain private
- Any abusive, potentially harmful or offensive material, as covered under the ITS Computing and Electronic Communications Policy at http://supolicies.syr.edu/it/computing.htm.
- Any copyrighted material for which you have not obtained explicit permission from the content's owner to post. This includes, but is not limited to, various digital media and academic works.
Content Management and WebDAV
Management of content on MySite is accomplished using WebDAV, an extension of the HTTP protocol. Each web page on MySite has a specific associated WebDAV address that the owner uses to modify the content of the site.
MySite WebDAV addresses adhere to the format: HTTPS://your-netid.mysite.syr.edu/admin
Valid SU NetID and password credentials are required to authenticate to the WebDAV address. Further, the Secure HTTP protocol is required for connecting. Thus the WebDAV address must begin with "HTTPS."
Content management of MySite web pages can be achieved from any internet connected computer running:
- Vista
- Windows XP (with IE7 installed)
- A Mac with the Goliath application installed
Directory Browsing
For security reasons, directory browsing is disabled on the MySite. As a result, every folder created on your MySite space must contain a default or index document for the website to be viewable.
The acceptable default Home Page names are as follows:
- default.htm
- default.asp
- index.htm
- index.html
