- Do your computer and monitor have power?
- Try plugging your computer (or powerstrip) into another wall outlet. If using a
powerstrip, try plugging the computer directly into the wall outlet.
- Is your roommate connected?
- If so, try using your roommate's Ethernet wall jack. Report broken or dead wall jacks to
ITS at 315-443-2677.
- Are you using the correct cable?
- An Ethernet cable looks similar to a phone cord, but the Ethernet
cable has eight copper contact points instead of four. Ethernet cables can be purchased at
the SU Bookstore and its satellite locations. Loaner cables are available at the residence
hall front desk.
- Are you running Windows XP with SP2 or Macintosh OSX?
- Only computers running Windows XP with SP2 or Macintosh OSX operating systems are
allowed on the SU network.
