Gamera and Rodan are the names of two Unix timeshare hosts (centrally supported servers) that offer students, faculty, and staff the following computing services:

  • 50 megabytes of personal data storage that is backed up on the central computing system
  • Space for personal Web page files
  • Newsgroups
  • Unix applications (SAS, PERL, Matlab, Pine, etc.)
Clients can log onto either gamera.syr.edu or rodan.syr.edu as their home directories and data are equally available from both timeshare hosts.
