The Telecommunications Department coordinates wireless service for
departments at Syracuse University.
All wireless carriers offer plans which provide "buckets" or pools of minutes with national calling plans, text messaging and data service. Some will provide free telephones; the equipment costs vary depending on which phone or Smart phoneis selected. Post paid plans for iPads are now available. For further information, contact cellular@syr.edu via email or at 443-4730.
To obtain service with any of these cellular carriers:
- Please print the "Wireless Service Authorization Form"
- Fill out the wireless authorization form, obtain required authorized signatures within your department,
provide a chart string, then scan the form and email it to cellular@syr.edu. You can also fax the completed form to (315) 443-1819.
- Select the carrier, choose your equipment and then contact the representative above to order. Available equipment can be viewed by visiting http:\att.com/wireless, www.verizonwireless.com, or www.nextel.com. Our representative will provide you with Syracuse University pricing and place the order for the service.
- Your monthly charges will be added to SU's main account and
Telecommunications will pay the bill each month. Your department will be provided details of cellular charges and calls and will be billed on the
monthly telecommunications statement.

Telecommunications has several international phones with GSM technology. They are available on a first come first serve basis. You will be required to pay the $25.00 monthly service fee for the phone, plus the costs of your usage while traveling abroad.
