Your telephone service at Syracuse University provides you with a state-of-the-art communications package. The following features are provided for your use:
Call Waiting
The call waiting feature lets you know someone is trying to reach you while you're on the phone.
How to use call waiting:
- hear the call waiting tone
- press the switch or recall
- or hang up and answer new call
To deactivate call waiting, dial *86, (then dial telephone number)
Three Way Calling
Three way calling lets you speak to two people, at two different numbers, at one time.
How to use three way calling:
- press switch
- dial second number
- announce conference call
- press switch hook
Speed Calling
Speed calling lets you dial one or two digits to make your call.
How to use speed calling:
To program the feature:
- dial *74 and the code (0-9) and number you want programmed
- hear confirmation tone
To use:
dial * and the number code on speed calling lists
Call Trace
Call Trace is a safety feature provided on student telephone lines. it helps students deal with obscene, threatening, or harassing telephone calls.
How to use call trace:
- Upon receipt of threatening call, hang up immediately lift receiver and dial 157
- after following steps of recorded message, notify Public Safety
If you feel you are in danger, call Public Safety by dialing "711". Otherwise, call them at 443-2224.
The next step is to file a written complaint with the Department of Public Safety. There is a $1.50 charge each time the Call Trace feature is activated.
