Q. I have published my Personal Web Page and would like to know it's address (URL)?
A. Once you have created your Web page and set the permissions to allow people to browse the page it will be
viewable from a Web browser. The address of your home page will be http://web.syr.edu/~NETID/ (where NETID
is your personal SU network identification username).
A listing of SU Personal Web Pages, grouped alphabetically, can be found at
http://web.syr.edu/allhomes/allhomes.html.
A full, non-grouped, listing of all SU Personal Web Pages is also available at
http://web.syr.edu/allhomes/allhomes_full.html.

Q. I am having trouble logging into SU from home via Telnet
A. When you attempt to login to the ITS Unix environment, the system will check your computer
to verify that it is registered with Domain Name Service or DNS. If
your computer is not registered properly with DNS, you will not be allowed
to login to the ITS Unix environment. You will need to contact the Information Center at 315.443.2677 or
by email: consult@syr.edu.
Q. Why do I get a 403 error when accessing my page?
A. Your permissions are not set properly. Go to Setting
Permissions for instructions.
Q. Can I use Java and java script on my Web page?
A. Yes! Java and Javascript do not depend on server configurations for their usage;
therefore, you can use both without any problem.
Q. Can I set up a Web page on web.syr.edu for my Dad's propane gas store back in Texas?
A. No, the Web pages at web.syr.edu are for personal use only. You cannot set
up a Web page for any company unless it is a temporary page for a class project.
Q. I still have a question about my personal Web pages on web.syr.edu
A. Send your questions to the consultants at the Information Center: consult@syr.edu.
