Complete the following steps to log in to the ITS Unix environment using Telnet. Telnet is
a tool that allows you to access a Unix computer using Unix commands.

before you start

Before trying the following steps, be sure that you have a NetID.

steps

windows
- Select Start>Run from the Start menu.
The Run dialog box appears.
- If on campus, type "telnet gamera" and click OK; otherwise, type
"telnet gamera.syr.edu" and click OK.
The Telnet window appears.
- At the login prompt, type your NetID and press Enter.
- At the password prompt, type your NetID password and press Enter.
The "gamera%" prompt appears.
macintosh
- Double-click the Applications folder.
- Double-click the Utilities folder.
- Double-click Terminal.
- Type in telnet gamera.syr.edu
- At the login prompt, enter your NetID and press enter.
- At the password prompt, enter your password and press enter.
The "gamera%" prompt appears.

You may also use rodan.syr.edu in place of gamera.syr.edu.
