System Alerts & Statuses

ITS posts notifications for scheduled maintenance activities and alerts for unplanned service disruptions or outages on this System Status page and at status.syr.edu.

When a service interruption is confirmed, ITS will notify the campus community by posting updates under Scheduled System Downtimes or Unscheduled System Alerts, as appropriate. Additional updates will be provided as new information becomes available, including confirmation of when services have been restored.

Status.syr.edu provides real-time service information, including each system’s current operational status and whether an issue is classified as a full outage, partial outage, or operational.

Resolution times vary depending on the nature and complexity of the issue. ITS treats widespread service disruptions as critical incidents and dedicates the appropriate resources to ensure timely diagnosis, communication, and resolution.

Syracuse University’s status page at status.syr.edu lets you track IT outages and scheduled maintenance. You can subscribe to get alerts by email or text.

Subscribe to Alerts

  • By Email: Go to status.syr.edu → click “Subscribe to updates” → enter your email.
  • By Text: Go to status.syr.edu → click “Subscribe to updates” → click the SMS tab → enter your phone number.

Note: Some alerts may arrive late at night or early morning.
