System Alerts & Statuses

ITS publishes Notifications (for scheduled downtimes) and Alerts (for unscheduled downtimes or outages) here on the System Status page and by email to the NOTIFY_ITS listserv.

ITS will notify the campus community of any confirmed outage.  Outage alerts will be posted on this page under Unscheduled System Alerts or Scheduled System Downtimes. ITS will notify the campus community when the issue is resolved. Actual problem resolution time can vary, depending on the nature and cause of the disruption.  ITS views any situation that results in a widespread disruption of message delivery as critical, and applies all due resources and effort towards an accurate diagnosis and expeditious resolution of the problem.

Weekly Outage Windows

Information Technology Services (ITS) computing and network systems may be unavailable for weekly routine maintenance activities or upgrades during the day- and time- periods listed below:

  • Tuesday: between 4 a.m. and 7 a.m.
  • Saturday and Sunday: between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m.

MySlice, Campus Solutions, HR/Payroll and Financials system to be unavailable - scheduled

Description: In order for Information Technology Services to perform work to apply regular scheduled patches and fixes, the MySlice portal and all of the services accessed through the portal will be unavailable between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. ET on Saturday, May 16, 2026. This outage includes MySlice, the Human Capital Management (HCM) system, the Campus Solutions (CS) system and the Financials system. The JAMS scheduler will also have a maintenance window in place during this time to accommodate the PS changes. During the downtime, MySlice and all applications that are accessed only through MySlice will be unavailable. Description: In order to apply an upgrade, MySlice and all applications accessed through MySlice as well as all IDM systems and services (including DMC and Self-Serv) will be unavailable from 5:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. ET on Sunday, May 17 2026.

OrangeSuccess to be Shutdown - scheduled

Description: OrangeSuccess will be shutdown at 4:00 p.m. ET on Friday, May 15 2026.

Residential Hall Wired Ethernet Port Shutdown - scheduled

5/12/2026
Description: Wired Ethernet ports for students in residential halls on South Campus and Ernie Davis Hall will be permanently shut down by 7:00 a.m. ET on Tuesday, May 12, 2026.

To receive Notifications and Alerts by email, subscribe to the NOTIFY_ITS listserv:

  1. Click this link: listserv@listserv.syr.edu
  2. Delete the signature line from the body of the email if it is included automatically. You do not need to enter a subject.
  3. Include the following line in the body of the message: subscribe NOTIFY_ITS Your_name
  4. You may omit your name if your email program automatically includes it in your email header.
  5. Send the email.

You will receive a request to confirm your subscription. Click on the confirmation link in the email and you’re done.
