In this week’s Friday Five interview, we talk to Anna Kopp, ITS director of budget and administration.
1. Tell us about what you do for ITS and how long you have been with Syracuse University.
I have been at the University since September 2006. I started working in the ITS Business Office in 2009. Since January 2017, I have been the Director of Budget and Administration. In my role, I oversee operations of the ITS Business Office. The office is responsible for ITS financial management, human resources, software licensing and communications.
2. What have you learned in your role with ITS?
Collaboration is key. I am constantly in awe of the work and services ITS provides to campus every day. This is a result of the team working together, having open communication, and sharing knowledge. I feel very fortunate to be part of the ITS team.
3. What has inspired you or made you hopeful since COVID-19 and the increasing global momentum toward social justice?
I am inspired by the resilience in the community at this very challenging time. Change is never easy, especially when it is unplanned and abrupt. People have risen to the occasion to help others and put in extra effort to adjust. While my heart breaks for those impacted by the recent tragic race-related events, I am encouraged by the actions communities are taking to make change. I am hopeful there will be continued dialogue to make change for the better.
4. What are you looking forward to this semester at Syracuse University?
I am looking forward to getting back on campus and doing what I can to support a safe and healthy fall semester!
5. What was the best part of your summer?
This summer has been amazing—so much sunshine! If I had to pick one thing, it would be watching my five-year-old learn to ride a bike AND swim over the last few months.
