Syracuse Welcome looked a lot different this year, but ITS staff’s commitment to welcoming students to campus remained unchanged. Volunteers from across the division partnered to assist more than 6,000 first-year, transfer and returning students, providing information on how to make the best use of technology at Syracuse University.
“The value of getting connected can range from calming anxiety of possibly missing that first Zoom class session, to staying connected with friends or family, or just getting some last-minute gaming in with online friends to help ease the transition back to a ‘normal’ in-person life,” says Dan Jeski, IT manager for Service Centers. “I am particularly thankful for each and every [volunteer] who possibly had hesitations with that transition and the anxiety that might have come from participating.”
